Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) is a regional 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency headquartered in San Rafael, California that provides a range of services in seven counties around the San Francisco Bay Area.
BACR delivers prevention and treatment services to youth, families and adults having a broad spectrum of needs, ranging from the need for basic information to treatment for chronic alcoholism and drug recovery.
Services are provided in a number of settings: schools, jails, community medical clinics, freestanding recovery centers, and county public assistance offices.
They deliver services in Contra Costa, Marin, and Napa counties.
The Positive Changes Women’s Treatment Program provides alcohol and drug outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment services for adult clients who identify as female.
Their program serves a full spectrum of clients, from those who may be "thinking about thinking about" becoming and staying sober to those who may have tried many times before and are ready for lasting recovery and a healthier life.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the MATRIX model, and Seeking Safety are some of the evidence-based models that are used in this program.
They have been well-researched and shown to be very effective in working with this population.
