I took my brother in law (Craig) to the unit on Bell Ave in Austin TX. we had 3 phone calls with Matt prior to the interview. we joined the meeting at 7:30 Sunday 4/27. the talking was completely dominated by the leader. no one introduced themselves except my brother in law. the only speaker was the leader who did not give his name and was the only person to speak except the treasurer who said 1 short phrase. the leader pushed hard on my brother in law and said he could not live there unless he was working or volunteering a lot. Craig is legally blind and just had hip replacement and can't dive and walks with a cane. it was an ugly scene and we left after 15 minutes. there was no hint of democracy in the room. the leader intimidated the entire group. I am pretty sure the work issue is not a requirement. I think your organization should look into the Bell Ave house policies.
