Freedom House provides long term residential treatment solutions for men with chronic problems in a non-institutional atmosphere.
Their home-like settings often act as triggers to memories of better times for their residents, long before the values of Faith, Hope, Trust, and Freedom were overtaken by the decimation of substance use disorders.
Freedom House also provides transitional living programs and outpatient services for both men and women.
A Much Needed Service
Freedom House is a very structured, abstinence based treatment program.
The demand for their services is high, and they are concerned for these men, especially in light of the current opioid epidemic and the increasing rate of overdose deaths.
In addition, many referrals have a history of relapse and may continue to revolve in the short-term care system without getting the needed services and supports for lasting recovery.
Step by step: their process
The treatment program at Freedom House provides an overall therapeutic process that begins with a "black out" period in which outside contact is very limited.
During this period the client is getting acclimated to the program schedule and working with his primary counselor to develop the treatment and relapse prevention plan.
The treatment plan is customized based on an assessment of all aspects of an individual’s life, including medical and mental health services.
Clients are taught job search skills and are assisted in finding employment – often through one of the many affiliations they have with businesses located in close proximity to their halfway houses in New Jersey.
Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs
Long Term Residential Treatment for Men — Based in a halfway house in New Jersey, they provide a comprehensive drug-alcohol rehab program using a variety of evidence based practices in both individual and group counseling, which includes life skills.
Transitional Living Programs for Men — Clients reside in home-like settings and live with a small group of other men as they prepare to integrate back into society.
The structure of the transitional home is designed to further stabilize clients in the early stages of recovery.
Residents function as a family, sharing responsibilities and being accountable to each other, and to the program.
Services are provided in a safe, healthy, supportive, recovery enhancing environment, and residents must follow the rules and guidelines of the house.
Transitional Living Programs for Women and children — Designed for women who have already completed long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment, this program teaches life skills and provides a case manager who oversees their stay and works with the courts to reunite them with their children.
Outpatient Services — Their services focus on the treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders.
The average length of time to complete any track is approximately 12 weeks.
Completion is driven by the needs and progress of the client.
Prospective clients must first contact the Freedom House clinical staff for a pre-interview phone screening.
This screening is conducted to determine if they are eligible for the residential treatment program.
If eligible, the prospective client will then be scheduled for a face-to-face interview to determine if long term residential treatment is appropriate for his needs.
